OMAHA, NE – February 11, 2025 – BioPocrates LLC, a pioneering Nebraska-based business dedicated to advancing health and well-being through scientifically backed, dairy-based products, has been awarded a highly competitive Dairy Business Builder grant from the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA). Among 39 recipients across an 11-state region in the Midwest, BioPocrates stands out as the only Nebraska-based dairy company to receive this prestigious grant, underscoring its leadership in dairy innovation and wellness solutions. BioPocrates will use the grant to design and purchase specialized fermentation equipment to scale the production of Zoguri, its yogurt-based L. reuteri probiotic supplement.
The DBIA, a partnership between the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), awarded a total of $3.3 million in funding to small- and medium-sized dairy farmers or processors that are diversifying on-farm activity, creating value-added products, enhancing dairy byproducts, or creating and expanding export programs.
Expanding Innovation in the Dairy Industry
This recognition from DBIA highlights BioPocrates’ growing impact on the dairy industry, particularly as Zoguri expands sales in a new market for dairy products. By leveraging cutting-edge fermentation techniques, BioPocrates is not only enhancing dairy-based health solutions but also aligning with DBIA’s mission to promote innovation and sustainability within the industry.
“This grant is a testament to BioPocrates’ commitment to revolutionizing gut health through dairy-based innovation. Strengthening Omaha’s Local Economy
The DBIA grant also marks a significant milestone for Omaha’s economic and innovation landscape. BioPocrates, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska and University of Wisconsin, is developing an industrial operation that will ultimately transition to a larger facility in Omaha.
“We are proud to continue investing in Omaha and fostering local economic growth. This grant empowers us to expand our operations to serve a wider base of consumers seeking holistic health solutions, create new jobs, and position Omaha as a leader in health-focused dairy innovation,” Rehal added.
