Frequently Asked Questions

ZOGURI

What is Zoguri?
Zoguri (“Zoh-guhr-eye”) is an L. reuteri yogurt-based supplement containing prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics. It includes seven species of beneficial bacteria, featuring two strains of L. reuteri—a keystone species lacking in 96% of Americans-and is specifically formulated to replenish these strains in a tangy, yogurt-like supplement taken daily.

What makes Zoguri different from other probiotic supplements?
Zoguri is the first and only all-natural, fermented, multi-strain probiotic supplement that combines two strains of the keystone species of L. reuteri, along with five other beneficial bacteria that have been demonstrated to have health benefits. Unlike other probiotic supplements and pill alternatives, Zoguri is an all-natural, fermented prebiotic, postbiotic, and probiotic with only 4 ingredients. Our hand-crafted process results in high concentrations of essential bacteria without any additives or synthetic compounds.

What ingredients are in Zoguri?
Zoguri contains whole milk, live cultures, organic inulin, and salt.

Which bacterial strains are in Zoguri?
Zoguri contains keystone strains L. reuteri, ATCC PTA 6475 and L. reuteri, DSM 17938, along with S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, Bifidus, and L. casei.

What are keystone strains of bacteria?
The Oxford dictionary defines keystone species as “species on which other species in an ecosystem largely depend, such that if it were removed, the ecosystem would change drastically.” Similarly, keystone strains of bacteria play a central role in microbiome health.

How much L. reuteri is in Zoguri?
Each two-tablespoon dose has at least 300 million CFUs of L. reuteri when it leaves our facilities.

How should I take Zoguri?
Adults may take up to 2 tablespoons (28 g) of Zoguri each morning. Start with 1 tablespoon for 3 days and increase to 2 tablespoons for your daily dose if you are not constipated. If constipated at 2 tablespoons, take 1 tablespoon. The more you can take, the more your body will benefit. For children under 6 years of age, ½ teaspoon (4.7 g), and 1 teaspoon (9.3 g) for children aged 6-12 years. Zoguri is safe for children who do not have an intolerance to dairy. As always, consult your child's healthcare provider before starting Zoguri. Before use, stir Zoguri to mix in any excess liquid, which contains nutrient-rich whey. Always use a clean spoon when dipping into the container, and keep Zoguri refrigerated.

Can Zoguri be mixed with any other ingredients?
Yes! Adding ingredients can enrich your experience. There are many ways to enjoy Zoguri. While some people prefer its natural tangy taste, others enhance the flavor to their liking by adding fruit, honey, olive oil, oregano, pepper or other ingredients to Zoguri before consuming. Adding any of these will not compromise the product's benefits, but be sure not to blend, heat, or freeze Zoguri as the bacteria are living and delicate.

How should I store Zoguri?
To maintain optimal freshness and quality, store Zoguri in the refrigerator at temperatures between 34˚F and 42˚F. Although the beneficial bacteria can survive at temperatures just above 100˚F, refrigeration ensures that the dairy base stays fresh and free from unwanted bacterial growth.

Is Zoguri safe for children?
Zoguri is safe for children who do not have an intolerance to dairy. As always, consult your child's healthcare provider before starting Zoguri. We suggest ½ teaspoon (4.7 g) for children under 6 years of age and 1 teaspoon (9.3 g) for children 6-12 years of age.

Can I take Zoguri while pregnant or nursing?
While there are no known contraindications during pregnancy, consult your healthcare provider before consuming Zoguri while pregnant or nursing.

Are there any allergens in Zoguri?
Zoguri’s ingredients are naturally free of gluten, tree nuts, soy, and peanuts. However, since it is fermented from milk, Zoguri is not recommended for individuals with dairy allergies.

When can I expect to see results with Zoguri?
Many people have reported increased energy, sleep, and mood within the first week of taking Zoguri. Others have experienced some of these effects after 30 days. Individual results may vary. While everyone may not feel daily improvements, most participants still receive the benefits of reduced sick days, improvements in hand strength, and bone health and immunity, whether or not they notice changes in sleep, energy and mood.  It is recommended to take Zoguri for a minimum of 6 months.

Can Zoguri cause side effects?
While most people won’t experience side effects from taking probiotics, some may initially experience constipation after starting Zoguri. Many probiotics work by altering the types of bacteria that line your digestive tract. Sometimes, those microorganisms change the way food is digested. For some people, this leads to symptoms like bloating or constipation. This symptom is usually temporary and resolves within a few weeks.

Is Zoguri approved by the FDA?
Zoguri is classified as a dietary supplement. It is not a pharmaceutical drug and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. While drugs require FDA approval, the FDA does not approve dietary supplements for any purpose.

How long does Zoguri last?
Each container of Zoguri contains 16 tablespoons. If you take 2 tablespoons (28 g) per day, one container will last 8 days. Each container also has an “open by” date. Once opened, Zoguri should be consumed within 14 days. It should be white to off-white in color and have a naturally tangy taste.
